If you have a car, truck, SUV, motorcycle or even a boat financed you need GAP protection. Not only has the price of gasoline impacted our wallets; it has had a negative impact on the value of larger vehicles,
especially trucks and SUVs. Six months ago, you may have had equity in your vehicle and today you could be very “upside down”. (Meaning you owe more than the vehicle is worth.) If you total your vehicle; or your vehicle is stolen and not recovered your automobile insurance will only cover the value of the vehicle which may be much lower than the loan balance.
Quick scenario: You owe $20,000.00 on your SUV and the current value is $15,000.00. Your insurance
company will only pay the value less the deductible. If your deductible is $500.00, then the insurance company will only pay $14,500.00. You will still owe $5,500.00 on a vehicle you no longer have. In addition, you still need to purchase another vehicle, so you really are in a bind. If you have your vehicle financed with this credit union, then we can help! We offer GAP protection at a very reasonable price, only $250.00* and we will add it on to your loan so there is no money out of your pocket. If you declined GAP coverage at the time you financed your loan, don’t worry – you can purchase it now. GAP will cover the difference in what the insurance company pays and what you owe the credit union. Better yet, if you refinance your replacement vehicle with the credit union, you will receive $1000.00 toward the purchase. Whether you are purchasing a different car or keeping the one you have, check with one of our loan officers about GAP protection. Just one more way YOUR credit union takes care of you – our members.
(*Motorcycles - Gap is $300.00)

Do You Know What They’re Saying About You?
“Most people don’t find out they have been a victim of stolen identity until they are turned down for a loan or credit card. A copy of their credit report explaining the denial may unveil weeks or months of fraud.” ~CNNfn.com
In addition to catching reporting mistakes, checking your credit report regularly can help you catch identity theft/fraud before they wreak havoc on your personal finances.
When checking your credit, make sure the report contains only accounts and creditors authorized by you. If you do not recognize a transaction, feel free to ask. After all, it is your credit information.
All consumers are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the three major credit bureaus.
